Rosevelt Watkins, Powell Road Rte. 4, died Thursday in a Rome hospital following a bief illness.

He was born in Floyd County June 24, 1910, the last child of the late Susan and Handy Watkins.  He joined the Bethel A.M.E. Church at an early age and was a member until death.  He was also a retired employe of McCall Hospital and Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Grace Watkins, Powell Road Rte. 4; four sons, Judge R. Watkins, Rome, Charles Watkins, Newark, N.J., Melvin Watkins, Columbus, Ohio, Ernest Watkins, Atlanta; four daughters, Mrs. Sara Wilson, Ada Channey, Rome, Mrs. Madella Weems, Cartersville, Mrs. Connie Butler, Newark, N.J.; 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Gore Spring A.M.E. Church with Rev. C.M. Richardson and other ministers officiating.  Interment will follow in the family lot of the Gore Spring Cemetery.
