Old Citizen Dies.

Mr. John L. Wikle Passes Away at the Age of 76.

Mr. John L. Wikle died at his home, in this city, on Monday morning last at 3:30 o’clcok, at the age of 76.

Mr. Wikle was an honorable and worthy citizen of the community, and was generally esteemed and his death is generally regretted.

Mr. Wikle had lived in Cartersville since 1853 and had reared seven children, who are Mrs. Charles Adams, of this city, Mrs. Corrie Herbert of Greely, Ga.; Mr. John E. Wikle, of this city; Mrs. Hall, of Adairsville; Mr. Hal Wikle and Miss Mabel Wikle.

He was once judge of the superior court, was postmaster, and was a justice of the peace before the war and was a notary public and ex-officio justice of the peace for a succession of years up to the time he died. He was a member of the Methodist church. His funeral took place Tuesday, his remains being interred at Oak Hill.
