Charles Wofford Dead

Former Bartowite Dies in Oklahoma at Ripe Old Age

News comes to his relatives and friends in this county within the last few days of the death of Mr. Charles C. Wofford, at Hanson, Oklahoma, on the 9th instant.  His death was caused from pneumonia fever.

Mr. Wofford was 84 years old.  He was born in Habersham county, but moved to Bartow, then Cass county, in 1833, and made this his home until 1850, when he went to California, but returned in 1857.  From 1861 to 1865 he was in the confederate service, part of the time doing detail duty.  He was a brave soldier and faithful in the discharge of every duty.  He remained a citizen of Bartow county until 1900, when he moved to Hanson, Okla., then Indian Territory, the place of his death.

Mr. Wofford was a first cousin of Mr. J.C. Wofford, of Cartersville.  He was a good citizen, an honest man and a faithful friend, and all who knew him sincerely regret his death.
