Society. A marriage of unusual interest is that of Miss Mary Lu Wikle to Mr. Chas. M. Milam which occurs on next Thursday evening, March 14, at nine o’clock at the home of the bride. This will be a very quiet home ceremony on account of the bereavement in Miss Wikle’s family and the wedding guests will included only a few of the relatives and intimate friends. There is not a young woman in Cartersville who has more good, true friends than this bride to be. She is a most capable young woman and altogether lovable. Many social affairs were planned in her honor to be given prior to her marriage but since the loss of her mother have been recalled. Mr. Milam is a man honored and beloved among his fellow citizens. He is a cashier of the Bank of Cartersville and he has had tributes and tokens showered upon him as Grand Chancellor of the state lodge of the Knights of Pythias. All over the state he is renowned for his magnificent work for this organization and here at his home he has for years held the highest position attainable in the lodge. [A notice of the wedding can be found in the “Society” section, page 6 of March 21, 1907 issue.] |
