At “Etowah Heights,” near Stilesboro, on Thursday eve, December 25, 1879, a brilliant reception was tendered by the father and mother of the groom to Mr. Pleas. Shelman and his charming bride, nee Miss Leila Dallis, late of LaGrange, Ga. At 8 o’clock the guests began to assemble, and ere long the parlors were filled with a joyous, happy throng participating in the delights of the terpsichorean art. At 11 o’clock, the guests regaled themselves upon a most bountiful supper, at which were spread delicacies sufficient to tempt the epicurean. The evening was delightfully spent, and all left wishing long life and happiness to the young couple whose new career commences so suspiciously.

Married—Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock, on the 23d of December, Mr. P. S. Shelman, of the Kennesaw House, Marietta, Ga., was married to Miss Leila E. Dallas, of this county at the Methodist church of this place, Rev. M. B. Hardin officiating in his usual graceful and impressive manner. Mr. Charley Cox, a well known pianist of this place, played a wedding march as the bridal party passed up the aisle. The attendants were Mr. C. T. Shelman, Jr., of Cartersville, and Miss Ella Palmer, Mr. H. E. Cary and Ada Awtrey; Mr. U. B. Frost and Miss Lizzie Huguley, Mr. E. R. Glover, of Marietta, and Miss Lizzie Zachry. Messrs W. S. Whitman and W. V. Gray, acted as ushers on this occasion. There were a large number of people present to witness the ceremony. Mr. Shelman is a worthy young gentleman, and he carries away as his bride one of the most charming young ladies of this county. She is a daughter of Mr. H. W. Dallis, Jr., and has a host of friends wherever she is known. The happy couple left on the morning train for Marietta, which will be their home. We wish them much happiness and prosperity.
