Eli Pickett, colored, of this county, whose application for pension was refused because negroes were not enlisted in the Confederate army, is about to be provided for anyhow—our representatives having agreed to get a special bill through to that end. Eli is said to have been a faithful Confederate soldier, and a good citizen. Major Roper went down Tuesday to aid him in the matter. He should have a pension. |
