“Brief Local Items.”

Dr. R. B. Harris received a telegram last Thursday, announcing the death of his father, Mr. R. D. Harris, at Chapel Hill, Ky. Mr. Harris was seventy years of age, and had been in feeble health for some time. Dr. Harris spent several weeks with him a short time ago.

Mrs. Bettie Wood died at her home in this city last Wednesday after a lingering illness of several weeks. She was the wife of Mr. M. E. Wood who died two years ago, and moved to Cartersville from Canton about four years ago. She was buried Thursday evening at Corbin.
