A poor old man and his wife, whose name we did not learn, while approaching this place, on Tuesday last, stopped on the road-side, before entering town, to rest. The old gentleman, being very feeble and infirm, lay his weary limbs down upon the ground, to rest, and suddenly fell asleep to wake no more on earth. His wife covered his remains over, and came to town for assistance, which was promptly granted. The body was taken in charge and buried, and pecuniary assistance afforded his grief-smitten and bereaved wife. |
