Wilson and Hammond trials John Wilson, col., charged with the murder of William Bryant, last December, and W. H. Hammond, white, charged with the murder of George Johnson absent four weeks ago were tried last week in Rome. Wilson was found guilty of murder and sentenced to the penitentiary for life. Hammond was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, and goes to the penitentiary for twenty years. |
